I have had a passion for gardening my entire adult life. I began as a personal gardener, growing my own vegetables and flowers, to where I am now, teaching gardening classes. I want to reach as many people as possible and teach about the many benefits of gardening. From the very young to the most senior we can all benefit from digging in the dirt. I am a retired elementary school teacher with a Master's in Early Childhood Special Education. My teaching career encompased teaching preschool through grade 3. I was granted a garden grant through the Bay Area Master Gardener as a 1st grade teacher which provided classes on how to set up and install a school garden. These classes enabled me to learn the basics of soil science, organic pest control management and composting.
After retiring from teaching, I took a gardening job with a company called Eldergrow. This company installed indoor gardens in retirement communities across the US. Eldergrow provided training in therapeutic gardening methods and numerous trainings from experts in dementia care.
I continue to take on-line classes in gardening to increase my knowledge and expertise in therapeutic, kitchen and sensory gardening.
